Thanksgiving fun!

Well this post was supposed to happen last night but my dear hubby took my laptop to work with him, along with all my pictures. lol Anyways I just wanted to show some stuff we've been doing to celebrate Thanksgiving. We have been trying to explain to our 4 year old what it means to be thankful. Not as easy as you would think. I used a mason jar and decorated it. I've been trying to write down something we are thankful for on a slip of paper and put it in the jar.

Of course we had to do a couple of kids crafts with our son too. I bought this little turkey kit at Hobby Lobby for a buck! It was super easy since it was all self-adhesive.

We also made a table runner using some old burlap fabric. I cut up some apples to do some stamping

I used a brown marker to add some details to make it look more like apples =)

Lastly, we had 2 pumpkins that never got carved. We bought 6 (not sure what we were thinking lol) to carve and ran out of steam. So I ended up painting them a light brown/tan and using stencils to write "Give" and "Thanks" on them.

I added a little burlap around the stems to finish them off. I think they're pretty cute!

Gratitude #5-10 =)

I'm back after a couple days off and I have a tons of pics to catch up on! If you've been following along, I've been participating in 30 days of gratitude

#5 Morning sky

Totally stole this from my dad. He works overnight so he gets to see the sunrise every morning.

#6 Books

My little man LOVES to read. (He got that from his Grammie and Mama ;) ) His bed is a loft so he has a bookshelf underneath that he can hang out and read books whenever he wants.

#7 Something funny

My son has moves no one has ever SEEN before lol  As soon as he hears music, no matter where he is he will just start grooving.  We were at the pumpkin patch and they started playing "The Candy Man" and he started dancing. =)

#8 Favorite Color

Kind of self-explanatory. =) Purple is thee best color in the world.

#9 Inspiring person

My grandma Lewis passed away this last February. She was an amazing woman. So much that she had been through, some of which we didn't find out until after she died. She was the strongest woman I knew. I miss her everyday.

#10 Nature

It amazes me every time I see a bird's nest. All the work that a mama bird goes through to make a home for her babies.

Well I think that catches me up. Phew! I'll be posting pics of what we've been doing to celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Gratitude #4

Onto Day #4: Leaves!
We have one tree beside our house that not only gives us a beautiful show of yellows in fall, but also allows us the perfect place to rake up a bunch of leaves to play in.

Love that little man <3

Join me for 30 days of Gratitude and leave a comment if you do. So I can come check it out =)
P.S I redid my "Thanksgiving" decor. Stay tuned for pics.

Gratitude #3 (and new Thanksgiving decor)

Soooooo onto day #3 of 30 days of gratitude : Day 3: Happiness

There are a couple of things about this picture that make me happy:
  1. The fact that my husband let me do this. (He's finally getting used to me ;) )
  2. My belly is getting bigger.
  3. Pumpkins mean Fall. My favorite season!

I decided to go ahead and take most of my "Fall" decorations down in favor of a more simple "Thanksgiving" scheme. I'm not done yet. Still messing around but this is it so far:

The more I look at it the more I want to take the foliage off and make a banner of "thanks" for the top of the mirror. Or maybe use a black sharpie and right on the big pumpkins "give" and "thanks". Hmmm  Whatdoyathink??

(Gratitude #2) Hey grump, Smile!

So if anyone missed my post yesterday, I'm participating in a 30 days of gratitude photography challenge. I technically have a half an hour left of this day so I'm still good. =)

Day 2: Smile

I honestly didn't know where to go with this one. So many things make me smile: my son, a clean HOUSE, falling leaves etc. So I decided to go literal with it and get a pic of my son's cheesy smile. I don't know what we did to get him to smile like this but whenever he sees my camera, this is the smile that I get.

It literally makes me laugh out loud whenever I see it.
Goofy. =)

If you want to join in the fun, just go to Positively Present to find out what picture to take on what day.

30 days of gratitude

While browsing through Pinterest (my new favorite addiction) I was looking for different things to do this month to celebrate Thanksgiving. I found this awesome idea from Positively Present. It's a 30 day challenge to keep you more aware of what you're thankful for. Simply take a picture everyday for the month of November that corresponds to the day number.

So. For day numero uno: Favorite food
Not. Gonna. Lie. As much as I am craving one right now, there's no way for me to get my hands on a Culver's concrete mixer right now. My fav? Gotta be M&Ms with chocolate ice cream. Yummmm-ooo!

Soooo whats your favorite food? Is it healthier than my choice? =)  Annnd don't forget to join me for this 30-day challenge!

Autumn front door

I don't really like to do a lot of decorating on our front porch. It's just too small and I don't want to have to trip over stuff to get into my house.

I was trying to remember when I made this wreath. It's probably between 5 and 10 years old now, but I just love it and can't get rid of it =)

Super, super easy to make. You just need a grapevine wreath, some pretty ribbon and a couple clusters of fall leaves. I just wrapped the ribbon around the wreath and tucked in the leaves. Easy peasy!
I also attached a simple metal sign to a grapevine wreath to make a cute side wreath. I used some jute to attach them together and Voila!

Cute right?
